Personal Statement
“Leader, dedicated, hardworking, dependable, eager, coachable.” Words I have heard used by Coaches, Teachers, Friends and Family to describe me. My love of sports started at the age of 4 playing T-Ball, and according to my family and coaches, I spent time on and off the field, yelling “coach, coach, coach”, always eager to learn as much about my purpose on that field as well as those of my teammates. At age 8 I was invited to play football with a newly developed travel football team. It was then I knew football was the sport for me. Through the years, and now in high school I still enjoying playing baseball and basketball but nothing compares to those Friday Night Lights! I take pride at the end of each game, knowing I have given 100% to each minute I was on the field and that my skills and knowledge of the game have grown as well. I am, and always have been a team player. Much like my T-Ball days, I am always learning areas I can improve to make me a better player as well as how I can support my teammates.
Recently I had the privilege to attend some College Football Camps. I took those opportunities to learn from the Coaches and staff gaining valuable insight on playing at that level. I also took time to watch and compete with juniors and seniors from other High Schools and personally witnessed some of the talent, dedication and skills needed to advance to the college level. I know I possess that drive, desire and currently building skill sets to be that player. I also, understand that I can have all of the drive, desire, passion and talent there is to play at that level, but if that doesn’t translate to the classroom, I could be wasting potential opportunities I have worked so hard for as an athlete. That is why I apply the same hard work and dedication academically as I do athletically. I cannot throw away opportunities to attend a good college and earn the right degree, regardless of playing any sport or not, because I refused to excel in the classroom.
I truly appreciate your time and consideration.
