I started playing football in the fifth grade. By the time I was in the seventh grade, I knew that I was going to work as hard as I possibly could in order to play at the collegiate level. I never have wavered from that commitment. My freshmen year was probably the year that I grew the most as a student-athlete. Three of our starting varsity offensive linemen were injured by the fourth game of the season and my coach at the time asked me to start playing in both the varsity and junior varsity games. As amazing as this was for me and as much as I grew as an athlete while working with the varsity team, it was also humbling. I had started on every team that I had played on prior to that but once I stepped on that field in my first varsity game, that was a whole new ballgame. I learned from that game that I could always keep working harder and improving my abilities.
It has been my goal to compete at a collegiate level since I was in the seventh grade and I have been working towards that goal since then. I have done everything possible to better myself as a student athlete over the last four years. I strive to not only be the best athlete I can be, but also the best student I can be as well. I have strived for excellence in my studies and because of it I am on track to be the valedictorian of my class. I refuse to be outworked in anything I do, whether on the field, in the weight room, or in the classroom. No matter where I play and attend school, I will play and work to the best of my ability and strive for excellence both on and off the field.
