My name is Corey Shaffer and I am from Coos Bay, OR. I attend Marshfield High School. I am 6'0" and weigh 220lbs and I am the starting center and long snapper. I began playing football at the varsity level as a sophomore and earned an All-League honorable mention award that year. My junior year I was elected as a captain by my teammates. Also, I was a unanimous 1st Team All-League selection at center. More importantly we grew as a team, had a successful season (6-3) and reached the playoffs for the first time in several years. This past season was my most successful season thus far. I was once again name 1st Team All-League Center, and our team again made it to the playoffs. Our team lost in a close quarterfinals game by two points. I was later named 2nd Team All-State Center.
I have attended the 2013 and 2014 Rubio Long Snapping Spring National Events in Las Vegas, NV and the 2013 University of Oregon Special Teams Camp.
I have been involved with sports since I was very young. I played youth soccer, baseball, basketball, tennis and track. I earned a varsity letter in tennis and track as an underclassman. I was selected to the Coos Bay All-Stars baseball team and played with the Coos Bay Pirates traveling basketball team for 5 years. In the 5th grade I began playing tackle football in the South Coast Youth Football league and I fell in love with the center and long snapping positions.
I have a 3.96 GPA and I am a member of the National Honors Society. I try to challenge myself academically and I have taken honors classes such as calculus and Spanish 4. My ultimate goals are to earn my college degree and to play football at the college level. With that in mind I train daily and I am fully committed to working as hard as I can to reach these goals.
