Football is in my blood. It has been an extremely important part of my life as far as I can remember. I began playing in 1st grade and have loved the game since day one of stepping onto the field. I love that each player on the field has a specific role to play and it’s through the combined effort of the group that the team is able to achieve success. The level of teamwork necessary in the game of football has taught me so much about how to work together to achieve a common goal - a lifelong lesson that will prove invaluable.
While defense is my passion, I’m a versatile football player with a high football IQ and the ability to play both offense and defense. As a linebacker, I love to hit and tackle on the field and have a knack for seeing the field and reacting to my reads. Throughout my years of playing football, I’ve gotten to experience playing almost every offensive position - including offensive and defensive line, center, and h-back. It is through these experiences that I’ve really learned to excel at the skill of blocking while at the same time having the ability to run crisp routes and having good hands when catching the ball.
As a three sport (Football, Wrestling, Track) athlete, I have learned so much about dedication and work ethic. I am an energetic and competitive person, with a strong desire to win. I love taking on new challenges, as demonstrated by joining the Wrestling team and Track team in 7th grade with no prior experience in either sport. My coaches say that my strongest asset is my work ethic and that my consistently positive attitude is something they’ve rarely found in an athlete before. Being a good teammate is important to me - working hard and how I carry myself (my attitude) play a big role in my ability to set the right example. I hold myself to a very high standard that is built on good moral character. It’s important to me to do what’s right, to stick up for what I believe in, and also to stick up for those who may not be able to stick up for themselves. These leadership qualities and my commitment to my teammates lead me to be named as captain of the Middle School Football team and Junior High Wrestling team in 2023.
Maintaining balance between my academic and athletic goals is extremely important to me. I achieved High Honor Roll all 8 semesters of Middle School, was awarded the President’s Education Awards Program 2024 Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence, and the 2024 Certificate of Academic Recognition. I currently take advanced Math and Language Arts courses, and plan to strive to take AP courses as I advance in my High School career. It’s taken a lot of late nights of studying and homework, but it’s worth it as I’m extremely proud of my academic successes.
My ultimate goal is to play football at the collegiate level. My dream is to attend a university where I can continue to grow and develop both academically and athletically. I know that playing football (or any sport) in college is a once in a lifetime opportunity and I am confident that I will make a good addition to the right football team and overall college community.
