Personal Statement
I began playing football later than most, in 9th grade at the age of 14. But my first day on the field, I realized that football would always be a part of my life. I have dedicated my academic career to make sure I can continue to play. Football has made me a better student and given me the tools to become a team player. I was always involved in sports, I played baseball, tennis, soccer, basketball and volleyball. Although I excelled in all of them, I was never passionate about playing any of them.
Today, I can present myself as a passionate player who has achieved good standing locally and the recognition of my peers. On my first Varsity season at age 15, I played starting positions in both the Defense and the Offense, as well as kicker and secondary quarterback. I was runner up as Offensive Back of the year.
2016 saw my second year as a Varsity player, I was selected by coaches and teammates as one of the team Captains. Once again, I played starting positions in the Offense and Defense teams and was the team kicker. The season ended with the recognition of all my peers as League MVP.
I am focused and willing to learn and go the extra mile. I have learned the value of a good education to balance my athletic career. I have had great coaches who have taught me the importance of dedication and have pushed me to improve my skills on and off the field. It is very important to me to be able to get a good college education, and if I can get that education playing my favorite sport, that would equal my perfect academic life.
One thing is for sure, with me on your team you are sure to find a good guy that loves to be part of a team, who respects his coaches and the experience they have to offer, who recognizes the importance of balance with higher education, and respects the sport.
