I am a OLB/SS for the Amarillo Sandies - one of the winningest football programs in Texas. I scored 1320/1870 on my SAT - I am a 4.0 student, a member of the National Honor Society, a Amarillo High Superintendent Scholar, and will graduate in 2015 in the Distinguished Achievement Program. I expect to make the Texas Academic All-State Football Team as well. Outside of football, I was recently name President of my school's Young Life Program. As a Jr., I earned my starting spot at OLB in the Amarillo High Sandies' '3-4 defense, and got to play 3 rounds in the playoffs. For as far back as I can remember, football was my passion; I played almost everything as a kid, but nothing else compared to football. My dream is to get my college education while playing what I love to play....football.
I played QB/RB & OLB in youth football, then played QB & SS in 7th-8th. In 9th, I played QB & SS before being moved to OLB mid-year. Learning the OLB position for the Sandies was an adjustment, but I continued to progress, and started on our Sophomore team. During the offseason, and the summer before my Jr. year, I doubled my efforts in the weight room and in improving my agility and quickness. While I began my Jr. year as a backup, I continued to get reps and improve and finished the last part of regular season, and the playoffs - as a starter. Our team struggled some during District play – getting 3rd, but made the playoffs and got to the 3rd round before losing to the eventual state champion, Denton Guyer. I played against great competition and know this will help me be even better my Sr. year.
I’ve spent my offseason working to get stronger and quicker: doing football offseason, running track, and doing some extra work on my own. I play within our defensive scheme, but my teammates would say that I play with passion, with a chip on my shoulder – a little attitude that I’m going to do my job, and whip whoever is in front of me. I’ll bring this passion to your program, and I guarantee - you won’t find another player that will work any harder or have a better attitude on the field and in the classroom than this Amarillo Sandie OLB.
