Grant McCook '20 Recruiting Profile

My name is Grant McCook.  I attend Canadian High School in Canadian Texas.  I moved into Canadian at the beginning of my freshman year. Throughout my time in high school I was able to sit behind a guy who was a grade above me and learned a lot. I made the varsity team my sophomore year as the backup quarterback and free safety. Our starting quarterback got hurt at the beginning of district play so my name was called on. I filled in at the quarterback position until he returned, in doing that I was voted and the 2nd Team All-District quarterback.

At the start of my junior year I was still being used at the backup quarterback, but I also shifted out to a slot receiver and corner. I started both ways until I suffered a broken hand, which was going to require surgery. I was sidelined for seven weeks until I came back for the playoffs. We made it to the state championship game that year but fell just short of winning it.

Now I’m in my senior year and I am back to playing quarterback. I’m not the 6”4 quarterback that people are looking for, but I have learned to develop my game into being a true dual threat quarterback who doesn’t mind taking off. Lastly, I just want to close by thanking my family, and coaches for all the support throughout the years.
