David Portillo '13 Recruiting Profile

Athletics has always been an important part of my life. Ever since middle school Football has been my favorite sport. Im 5'10-200 pound Middle Linebacker with 2 years of varsity play as a starter in one of the most competetive districts in Texas Football. My Junior Season we were in 4A with all the Frisco schools which all had many Division 1 athletes. My Senior year we moved up to 5A and were put in probably the hardest district to play in with Euless Trinity, Colleyville Heritage, L.D Bell and so forth. As a starting linebacker, I'm a leader always looking to help our team. I'm an extremely coachable, hard working player who is always looking to get better. I've never missed one day of summer workouts, I was there everyday during the off season; during the period, and after school. I also did powerlifting and ended up 11th in our region, one spot away from moving on to the regional finals. With a 3.45 GPA, I apply myself in the classroom with the same dedication I apply myself on the field. My passion for the game does not overcome my commitment to my education. My Junior Year I made All District Linebacker, while leading the team in tackles. I also won the Defensive Skilled Player of The Year award. When looking for the right college, I'm not geographically selective but the educational part of a school is very important to me. I definitely want to play as soon as possible and I am very excited about playing football and taking my education to the next level, because I believe I have the ability to do it, and I will put in the work in order to achieve my goals.
