Grateful to still be alive - and grateful for football. Follow the comeback.
Winning the District as a Jr was a highlight of my athletic career. I shared time with two 1st team All-District WRs, and was fortunate to be efficient with limited opportunities. Getting even stronger & faster during the off-season, I was excited for an outstanding Spring and Summer. Then, in one play, everything changed for me.
I caught a TD pass during a Spring Football scrimmage. An unusual hit as I landed sent me to the ER, and eventually ruptured my intestine - leading to sepsis. It took 12 days for the surgeons to declare me “out of the woods”. 21 days later, including 10 days in ICU, I was finally sent home - down 45 lbs from the 190 I had carried into the ER. And with a 12” open wound down the center of my abs. I was grateful to be alive - and grateful there was still a chance I might recover in time for my senior season!
I went to work. Healing and re-building. My body & my mind. I set a goal to be back up to playing weight, and form, by our first scrimmage. Surrounded by supportive family, coaches, teammates, and community - the comeback began.
As of late July, I’ve regained 40 of the 45 lbs lost. My speed, agility, and strength are almost completely back up to form. I WILL be ready to make this season great for our team.
Almost losing something makes it even more precious - and I already loved football. I’m excited to bring my focus & drive to a college program, and help make great things happen.
I missed ALL the summer camps - and half of Spring ball… so consider me “under the radar”.
