Personal Statement

Howdy Coach,

Just announced:

2012 APSE Class 1A All-State Football honorable mention defense (DB) - Iola High School

http://www.theathleticsdepartment.com/schools/Iola/Football/honors/?yr=2012

Thank you for taking the time to view my NCSA profile. My name is John Kay and I am a senior at Iola High School. With the Iola Bulldog football season over, I would like to recap my successes over the last season:

Associated Press Sports Editors Recognition 2012

2012 Football Pos#6 District 11-1A Division I All-District football second team offense
2012 Football Pos#6 District 11-1A Division I All-District football second team defense
2012 Football Pos#6 District 11-1A Division I All-District football first team defense

I feel like I would be a great recruit for your program. I am smart, strong, and quick on my feet. I am very flexible on the field. I played in many positions on offense and defense. The positions that I play are as follows:

1.     Running Back

2.     Wide Receiver

3.     Free Safety

4.     Kicker

5.     Punter

6.     Kick Returner

7.     Punt Returner

Associated Press Sports Editors Recognition 2011

2011 Boys Basketball District 26-1A Division 1 All-District boys’ basketball academic first team
2011 Boys Basketball District 26-1A Division 1 All-District boys’ basketball academic honorable mention

I feel I am also smart in the classroom as well. I currently have a 3.27 GPR and I have followed the Distinguished Plan during my entire high school career; taking rigorous honors and AP courses. I am currently taking dual credit college courses in English, Economics and Government and will graduate from my high school with 12 college credits. I am expecting academic money and scholarship funds that will help to offset the dependency on a full athletic scholarship.

As long as I have played sports it has always been a dream of mine to play college ball. I know that it takes a strong determination and will to make this dream of playing football in college a reality. Football has taught me to make a commitment to not fail and give up. My coaches and teammates will agree that I am a total team player and I am more than willing to work hard and continue to be a leader on and off the field. My determination to excel and the need for competition are some of the driving forces that commit me to playing football for a dedicated and hardworking team. My best athletic traits are my overall athleticism, quickness, good judgment and diversity on the field.

Additional activities: National Honor Society- Vice President, Iola Student Council - Secretary & Treasurer, Fellowship of Christian Athletes - Vice President, Iola FFA, Iola 4-H - President, Vice-President, Treasurer & Parliamentarian, Varsity Basketball & Varsity Baseball, Varsity Track, Bedias Baptist Church Youth Group. Strong Christian faith.
