Personal Statement

As a junior on my high school football team this past season, I received the award for Offensive MVP.  I also received the Academic All-District award, with my GPA at 3.94, and consistently on the honor roll. I am a member of the National Honor Society and I teach faith formation to 5th graders at my church. I am seen as a leader and a playmaker on our football team, and this past season we recorded the second best record in our school's history. I have the ability to make big plays in key game situations; with a 65 yard TD reception in the final minute of a game this year, which put our team into the playoffs.

I have been playing football since I was in 1st grade, and have played running back, quarterback, linebacker, defensive back, and wide receiver.  I have played multiple sports, including football, basketball, and soccer for most of my life.  I have much experience playing in both the spread offense and the pro-style offense. In 8th grade at quarterback, I led my team to an undefeated 10-0 season and District championship.  I ran and threw for over 3500 yards that season, and 42 touchdowns.  As a Freshman at running back, I ran for over 1000 yards and 12 touchdowns. And this past season as a junior, on a run-dominated team, I caught 35 passes with an average of 16.5 yards per catch, and 5 touchdowns.

I believe I can make a big difference on the football field, especially when key plays are needed. My idea of teamwork is encouraging my teammates to improve at every practice and game, while modeling this myself.  Additionally, I have spent the last 4 years, highly focused on building my skills and technique through football camps and combines, and I have the intangibles as well, as told directly by my coaches and trainers:  "very coachable, leader-by-example, competitive nature, and willing to give up his body to haul in a catch"

I am looking to be a part of a successful football and academic program, and earn my place on the team. If I have the opportunity to play football on your team, you will be getting a highly focused, passionate, and talented student/athlete with great leadership skills.  It has always been a dream of mine to play football at the collegiate level. I strive everyday through my academic endeavors, and athletic training, to fulfill this dream. I will do what it takes to play football at a program who is willing to accept a hard working and dedicated student-athlete.
