My collegiate goal and aspiration are to further my academic career through the sport of football. What makes me a good candidate for colleges and universities are the lessons that the game of football has instilled In me. First, we must fall in love with the process more than the result. The result-driven person is only focused on the result and misses out on the valuable lesson(s) that the process teaches. Lessons like determination through adversity and success, perseverance, consistency, and teamwork. These lessons can be applied to not just football by in our daily lives as well whether in school or personal relationships. Secondly, the game of football has taught me to always be a man of integrity. My coach calls it the man rule and it's held true no matter what. The man rule is quite simple; Be where you're supposed to be, when you're supposed to be there, and do what you are supposed to be doing. If you can do these three things on a consistent basis, you cant go wrong. You can't go wrong because the individual is concerned with doing the right thing all the time no matter the circumstance. A man's character and integrity are all that they have and we must protect them at all times. These lessons that I've learned through the game of football are what set me apart from other recruits in my class. Athletically, I have had the chance to play multiple positions while playing for the McKinney Lions. I started my career playing both Rover and Safety and saw a little playing time as a Sophomore. Currently, as a Junior, I have made the move to our Nickel LB. This year I have had to step up and fill in some big shoes as we lost several starters. What makes me unique from an athletic standpoint is that throughout both seasons as a Varsity athlete, I have taken over the specialist duties as both the Long Snapper and Short Snapper. This makes me unique in the fact that you have an athlete who can make plays in space sprinting down the field. This has helped us from not only an SPC team standpoint in pinning people deep but has also been a part of the success our defensive unit has had this season as we have held opponents to an season return average of 15 yd.
