Sports have always played a major role in my life, but oddly Football wasn’t the sport in the beginning. I was dedicated to the sport of baseball and took pride in my ability on 3rd base. I had the opportunity to play club ball with Mariucci San Antonio and enjoyed the experience of traveling and playing at the next level. If you would have asked me how I saw my future, I would have said playing baseball for Texas Tech (my favorite college baseball team at the time), but my 7th grade year I tried football just for the experience. Never did I expect my desire and focus to do a complete flip, but I was hooked. No other field could satisfy the feeling I get when I am crouched down on that yard line ready for the next play. The coaches noticed that desire right away and if it wasn’t for the Community ISD Football program, I don’t think I would have excelled the way I have these past 5 years. In those 5 years I humbly achieved making Varsity my sophomore year and starting Varsity my junior year. This past season I was named All-District Offensive Tackle.
My time participating in Baseball and Football has taught me the importance of teamwork, how to deal with adversity, built friendships that have lasted through the years, and developed a healthy form of competition that will help me thrive in future goals.
Outside of sports, I have had the experience of excelling in an academic program called Destination Imagination. This unique program teaches you to use problem solving skills, teamwork, creativity, and ingenuity. I was honored to be part of a team that Placed at Regions 5 years in a row, Placed at State 3 of those Years, and won the opportunity to participate in their Global competition against teams all around the world and placed. I work for our Local Dollar General part time, and within a few short months I rose to the position of key holder with the responsibility of opening and closing the store.
I have dreams and aspirations of playing college ball, but more importantly returning and serving the community that I have grown to love. I plan on earning a degree in education/kinesiology. My dream is to return to this very fast-growing district and run their strength and conditioning program and open my own gym in this community.
These past experiences have molded me into the student athlete I am today, and this next phase of life at your university will in no doubt continue to mold me into the successful leader of my community that I envision for my future.
