My name is Jacob Jimenez. I am 6’5” and weigh 265. I am currently a junior at Pflugerville High School, located just north of Austin, Texas. I will be graduating in 2015. I play football for the Pflugerville Panthers, a District 16-5A football program. My family, school, and getting a quality education are all very important to me. I am passionate about playing football and about pushing myself to be the best athlete that I can be.
I am in my fifth year of playing football. I began playing football in the 7th grade. In my first three years (7th, 8th, and 9th grades) I played defensive end and sometimes played on the offensive line. As a sophomore, I played on the varsity, starting at offensive left tackle the entire season (2012-2013) on a varsity squad made up of only seniors. I was the only starting sophomore on the varsity that season. I worked hard to learn the position quickly and played at a very competitive level the entire season.
During the offseason, I worked on improving my strength, conditioning, speed, and football skills, because I knew more would be expected from me as the sole returning varsity starter on offense. During the offseason, I also worked on developing my skills as a deep snapper and attended the University of Texas Longhorn football camp for deep snappers. As a junior, I started at offensive right guard and offensive left tackle, and also started as the team’s deep snapper. I was selected to the 16-5A All District Second Team.
I have started my offseason training to further improve my strength, conditioning, speed, and football skills to be ready for what lies ahead in my senior year, and to prepare for the upcoming football camps and combines this summer. For me, the camps and combines began this December (2013). In December, I accepted an invitation to take part in the Blue-Grey All American Weekend Combine at the University of Texas Arlington. As a result of taking part in the Blue-Grey Regional Combine in December, I have been informed that I was selected to be a Red Zone Prospect and about the opportunity to compete for selection to one of the super combines to be held later this year (2014).
I believe I have the tools, the discipline, the skills and the ability to be a competitive football player and a great student athlete at the collegiate level. I believe that I can make a big impact playing at the collegiate level. I am also committed to obtaining the best education that I can get because I understand the value of a great education.
