Football has been my passion since I started playing competitively at six years old. Football is more than a sport, it has provided me with valuable life lessons such as time management, resilience, leadership skills, how to function as a member of a team, discipline, and respect. While my primary position has always been as an offensive guard, my versatility as a player has allowed me to successfully play as a defensive tackle and nose guard as well.
Since I began playing, football has been a nearly year-round pursuit. From the age of six to 12, I played in the same league for the Texas Youth Football Association, playing both fall and spring ball. Once I entered middle school, I participated as a starter on both the offensive and defensive line during my 7th and 8th-grade years. During my freshman year, at Taft High School in San Antonio, Texas (6A, Division 2) I was a starting left guard, who frequently was also asked to play defense. Now that I am entering my sophomore year, I have been placed on the varsity team as a starting right guard. In addition to football, I also played basketball for eight years, and this year I began participating in the track and field event of shotput. I have continued to play football in the off-season, as well as lifting in the weight room and participating in three-daily workouts.
I try to apply the same passion for sports in other areas of my life as well. My education is equally important to me and I want to find a college that allows me to push myself in the classroom as well. My ideal school is one that would allow me to pursue both my educational goals and athletic dreams.
