Tyler Everett '16 Recruiting Profile

 Coaches,

  For as long as I can remember I have loved football. When I was in grade school I had an older brother playing for the local high school team. . He went on to play for Southern Utah University, a D1-AA school in Cedar City, Utah. From then on I was hooked, I wanted to be him.  I watched how he played, how he worked out and how he interacted with his teammates. He was part of a brotherhood that I wanted to belong to. I started playing in the fourth grade and imagined what it would be like to play in high school and beyond. I wanted to follow in my brothers footsteps.

   One of the lessons that my Dad has taught me about football and life is the following equation. Hard work over an extended period of time equals success. The key to so many things in life is old fashioned hard work. There will always be better athletes out there, I can’t control that. But what I can control is my work ethic, technique and being coachable. Those are the things that set me apart from my football peers now and what will set me apart from other athletes at the college level.

  Football is one of my passions but it’s not the only thing I enjoy. I have been playing Rugby for the past four years for a club team called United Rugby. I play wing were I get to use my speed and size to help control the game. We won the 2014 Utah State Rugby Championship for the U16 division. I was then selected to the Utah All State Rugby team and was able to travel to Denver, Co to play in the Western Regionals. We were able to win all of our games in Colorado to win the Western Regional Championship. Both football and rugby help me with my speed, endurance and sportsmanship.

One thing that you would not know about me is that I attend a class everyday called Peer tutor. I get to spend time with some great kids who struggle with mental, behavioral and physical challenges. My friends in this class keep me grounded. They remind me that there are bigger things in life then just football or rugby.  We all want to feel loved and accepted in this life. The way we treat others is a reflection of our own personal character.
