Personal Statement
Go to Schedules/Press to see my Senior Highlights.
This season, my senior year, I scored 60 touchdowns, throwing 232 completions and 41 TD passes for 3,569 yards with a 70% completion rate. I also rushed for another 19 TDs and 796 yards. I finished my high school career with 142 TDs. I threw 662 completions and 114 TDs for 10,402 yards, setting records in the State of Washington. This year alone, I earned the Seattle Times Washington State Player of the Year, AP All State Quarterback, the Seattle Seahawks Athlete of the Week, Seattle Times Prep Athlete of the Week, KLEW Prep Athlete of the Week, Lewiston Tribune Prep Athlete of the Week, All League First Team QB, Offensive Player of the Year and other awards. I live for the game of football. I love throwing the football everyday of my life. I regularly watch game film, study the strengths and weaknesses in defensive schemes, and work on becoming a better quarterback even while excelling at the most competitve levels of basketball and baseball. I come from a football family. My brother and I even spend our summers putting on youth quarterback and receiver camps with my Dad: http://airitoutfootballacademy.com/index.htm. Playing QB is who I am and what I do. I believe that I can out throw, out think, out work, and ultimately out play anyone. I love competing on the gridiron and I know in my mind, heart, and body that I can play QB at the next level. I am 6'2" and 175 lbs, but I am only 17 years old and I am going to get much bigger, faster, and stronger. I am leaning towards getting a degree in Education with an emphasis in History, English and coaching. I have a 3.9 Cumulative GPA and have earned a 4.0 for the past four semesters. I scored almost a 1500 on the SAT. I have also excelled in basketball and baseball earning All League and All State honors in both. I want to play quarterback as long as I can and then be a QB coach at a college or university. For me, playing QB at the next level is about fulfilling one of my life long dreams and setting the foundation for my future career. I love the game of football and I possess the mind, heart, body, and attitude to really play the quarterback postion and make a difference at the college level.
Respectfully, Josh Straughan
