Shane O'Brien '19 Recruiting Profile

As long as I could remember, I loved to listen to stories about my dad’s football career in college and in the NFL, along with my mom’s record breaking track races in college. I long to have a similar experience.  However, even though football is a fun sport to play, there's something more meaningful about it to me. One of the many qualities my high school pounds into us is the ability to lead by example, and I believe football is a great way to reveal your leadership towards others. I don’t play football just to have fun, I play for a purpose. Every game I have a specific friend, or family member I offer my game up for. No matter in the game, in practice, or off the field, I believe that it is extremely important to lead by example, and I thank my faith for keeping me on track.

This season was a great learning experience for me, it taught me that even though I’m in a top tear football program, victory still does not come easy. Rather, you need to sacrifice everything on the field. Being a three sport athlete and a honor roll student, I’m looking for a college that can challenge me both academically and athletically. Not only will my athletic ability be useful on your team, but my character, sacrifice, and leadership as well. My goal in life is to make a positive difference in this world, and I hope your school can help me make that difference.
