Personal Statement
Reflecting back on all my years of playing sports, I can thank my Dad for the love of being physically fit and the love of football. My Dad was a high school D-Line coach for 18 seasons, so I started coming to the weight room and football field with my Dad when I was just in a car seat. Growing up, I made it to almost every weight room workout, practice, and game. These experiences helped mold me into the athlete I am today. I had the benefit of seeing what an athlete got when they worked hard and also what they got when they only put in half an effort. I was fortunate to see that first hand and that helped me grow into the athlete that I am today that feels only 100% effort all the time is acceptable.
Not only am I a committed athlete to myself and my team, I am committed in the classroom as well and have been on the honor roll since grade school, even while taking honors courses. I am a three sports athlete (football, indoor track, outdoor track) and have been fortunate enough to be elected team captain part of that time. In my personal time, I make a commitment to things beyond me. I spend time each year serving and caring for others. I also serve as a leader in my youth group and in our Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) club at school. Having character and integrity is of utmost importance to me.
I believe my talent and commitment will assist me in competing at the college level. I am looking for a program that will help me continue to grow spiritually, academically, and athletically.
