Coach
I can go into many different variations of this statement, but I am just going to put myself out there and speak. All my life I have played sports and football was an early calling. I started playing in third grade and football and I just bonded together. My parents have said that from an early age I have had that bond with the sport I do truly love being a part of.
I come from a military family, both my parents were active duty Air Force. My mom of 22 years and my Dad of 24 years. They instilled in me from an early age that I must work hard for what I want and character and integrity are everything. I have taken that not only onto the football field, I carry that mindset with me during indoor/outdoor track. That same tenacity goes into the classroom and in my everyday life. With both my parents retiring this summer, this is just my tribute to them and everything they have done for our family. They have sacrificed to give our family the opportunities they never had.
As of this year November 2013, this is the second time that I have had the great pleasure of playing for the state championship with my school. As a freshman we won the state title, and now as a junior we go into another title game. This time I say there is more meaning, because of the obstacles we have overcome throughout the season, and I believe that we have great coaches that helped us grow. More than ever I think it’s not just “ME’s” and we play for each other as a team. Regardless of the outcome I could not ask to be a part of a better team, at such a great event in our early lives.
I am just beginning to scratch the surface at my college options as far as school size, division level and location. I am open to any type of school from A to Z. I know that I want to get my degree to be a Physician’s Assistant that is my primary goal. Secondary will be nursing/Kinesiology. I am engrossed into the medical field and especially with its many tie-ins to sports. I am well aware of the task both one of those degrees have and I know that I am up to that challenge to maintain my grades, and responsibility to a football program. First on my list of things to do, is to study and get a good ACT/SAT score this spring.
I like to live by a saying “I will be chosen as a leader for my actions, not my words”. That is my whole premise of academics and sports. This has paid off for me in both areas. I am eager to learn, willing to make the sacrifices that need to be made in order to make my goal a reality. I enjoy being part of a team and learning from each other. I believe with my skill set that my teachers and coaches have already provided me with, these will strengthen and better both the school and myself, wherever I am lucky enough to be accepted.
UPDATE:// As of Saturday 16 November, my teammates and I are the Wyoming 4A State Champions…
UPDATE:/// As of April 2014 I finished 6 in state overall for shot put for both indoor/outdoor track
