Darrell Richards '24 Recruiting Profile

Hey there, My name is Darrell Richards, however, everyone who knows me calls me DJ. I'm a basketball player currently residing in Phoenix Arizona since 2019, coming from Illinois. One thing that sets me apart from other players at my level is my drive, dedication, and passion for basketball. I love hard work, and will never quit and it shows on and off the court. Im very consistent and persistent in regards of honing my craft with basketball and look forward to taking my talents to the next level.

From the age of 8 I have been playing this sport of basketball. Spent infinite hours training and perfecting my skills to become the player I am today. Every coach, and player can attest to my work horse ethic as I never give u and what i fail at today, i will excel at tomorrow. I will work harder in every training, practice, and game than everyone. 

Basketball is not second nature to me, it's the only life i know that allows me to be free and do what i am destine to become. This isn't something to occupy my time, Basketball is my time. I understand the importance of communication, teamwork, and perseverance, both on and off the court. From the moment i step onto the court or in the classroom, I give my absolute best everyday. I may not have the same opportunities as others around me but that will never change my love for this sport and my dedication to work hard to support my team in anyway possible.

Basketball and Academics goes hand in hand to me and it is very important to me and my family. Being a big brother to my brother and sister is one thing i pride myself of doing, making sure my education is given the same energy as i give in basketball so my siblings can see in order to excel in life you have to work hard for it in everything you do.
