From the age of about 11 years old I've always envisioned myself going to the next step in my basketball career from high school to college. With a young mind full of aspirations, I understood there was more to being a collegiate athlete than being able to put the ball through the hoop, or having to guard a man full court even when your body can't give anymore. I believe as a college basketball player you have to a different type of mindset, a mindset that displays tremendous determination, confidence, and humility. Over the years I believe I have developed these traits as a basketball player from peers and coaches. Not only do I take pride in being able to prepare my mind for tough games, but I have skill sets that adequately match them. A basketball IQ that matches my coaches at times, a passing and driving threat that will ultimately end in a score. From the defensive side, a man to man defense that frustrates an offensive player.
I also understand the importance of education and being a student before an athlete, which is why I have earned a 3.6 GPA while playing the game of basketball. I understand that it makes a coach look bad when an athlete doesn’t flourish in the classroom the way he blooms on the court. I understand as an athlete you represent the school’s basketball program. With much understanding of being a student athlete I know I can represent your school on and off the court without you questioning who I am.
