Growing up a military brat my entire life I have learned the true meaning of what it means to sacrifice and remain disciplined in all that you do. Attending schools on military bases you see and learn about the values one must maintain in order to remain a soldier.  I have taken two of those values to apply to myself as an individual and as basketball player. This reflects my academics as an A and B student, and my passion as a point guard and leader on every basketball team I have been a part of.

Integrity and accountability are two of the most important attributes I found critical for myself and as basketball player to possess. Having the courage to stay true to myself and be the best version I can be on and off the court is essential for success. Integrity is about being honest, reliable, and trustworthy. Accountability is about taking responsibility for one’s actions and not making excuses. It is about owning up to mistakes and learning from them. Both of these qualities has helped me as person and player to develop an honest and ethical approach to life and game, ensuring that the decisions I make are always in alignment with individual and team’s goals.

Being able to demonstrate integrity and accountability in every aspect of my life and basketball game, I will have the respect of my peers, team, and opponents alike. It is essential for any person/player to understand that their actions and decisions on the court will reflect their true character and values. This will help create an atmosphere of trust and respect among everyone , allowing them to work together towards a common goal. This is why I’m true to myself and continuously strive to be the best version of myself on and off the court. Only then will I be able to reach my full potential and lead others to success.

Lastly, having integrity and being accountable has been a great way to develop a sense of pride in myself and team. When I  know Im doing my absolute best and taking responsibility for my own actions, I can take pride in  the results no matter the outcome . This, in turn, will also help me stay motivated on and off the court. Integrity and accountability has help me become a better basketball player and person. With these qualities, I can be sure that I will always be true to myself and anyone else I encounter.
