I’ve been playing basketball my entire life. My dad is a former NBA and European League player. He was then a coach in Australia for several years before returning to the states to coach in the NBA D-League, and then as a third assistant for the Orlando Magic. Currently, he is a West Coast scout for the Minnesota Timberwolves. I guess it’s safe to say, he put a basketball in my hands before I could even walk.
I have moved around quite a bit throughout my education—even going to school in Perth, Australia for a few months. In elementary school in Sherman Oaks, California I played on travel teams, and in 7th and 8th grades, I returned to Claremont where I played for El Roble Junior High School. Halfway through my 8th grade year, my mom and I moved to Whitefish, Montana where I played on a travel team through the spring. I played JV and Varsity my freshman and sophomore years at Whitefish High School, earning 2nd Team All-Conference my sophomore year as a Varsity starter. In the summer of 2016, I attended The University of Montana Grizzly Summer Basketball Camp where I was awarded Top Shooter. My mom and stepdad moved to Houston at the end of that summer, and I returned to Claremont for my junior and senior years. I earned League Honorable Mention last year, and this year, I earned Offensive Player of the Year and 1st Team All League. I was also selected to play in the Inland Valley Classic All Star Basketball game on April 15.
I’ve grown both as a player and as a person over the past four years. I’m dedicated and hard-working, and I value greatly the relationships I’ve built with my coaches and teammates. I still keep in touch with Coach Green in Whitefish as I consider him one of my mentors. I’ve learned from both of my parents the importance of taking the initiative when following your dreams.
