My parents described me as "an active child" because I never stopped moving as a kid. Luckily I found a place early on that appreciated and rewarded my energy: the basketball program at my local YMCA in Maplewood, NJ. It was there that I fell in love with the game. As a kid, I was fortunate to join one of the best teams in the state; The King Street Kings. Being surrounded by such talented coaches and players pushed me to improve my game and I welcomed the challenges both physically and mentally. Playing the game has given me a sense of purpose, accomplishment, leadership, and community as well as life-long friendships. In 2013 I moved with my family to the San Francisco Bay Area where I continued to play both school and AAU basketball. My high school team voted me team captain two years in a row and I was named DPOY for my Acalanes Varsity team for 2018-19. I attribute this success to my core assets: endurance and toughness. I go into games expecting and playing for the win, not backing down from physical challenges, whether that's scrambling for a loose ball or taking a charge. Offensively, I consider myself to be a strong and unselfish team player, as I am aware of and looking out for passing, communication, and rebounding opportunities. I carry this same mindset to my academics and future college experience knowing that the way I handle myself off-court reflects on myself, on my team, on my coaches, as well as on the school that I will represent. I'm excited for this next chapter in my life!
