Growing up with a father who played soccer as a kid, I felt the need to follow in his footsteps and play soccer as well. However, at the age of 4, I was introduced to the game of basketball. So, throughout my childhood, I played both sports. However, attending a high school where soccer and basketball are both in the same season, I had to pick one. Never really understanding how passionate I'd be about the game, I decided to choose basketball. My freshman year, I was one of three freshmen to make the JV basketball team. Not knowing what to expect, I performed really well and was MVP of the team. After this whole experience, I really felt like I could be something special. Due to an overloaded backcourt on the varsity team, I played on the JV team again as a sophomore and for the second year was MVP. This past year, I played my first year of varsity and was named a team captain. I went on to win MVP at the end of the season, as well as getting honorable mention for the Peninsula Athletic League South. Additionally, I played AAU for over 5 years.
Being a leader on the court is a huge responsibility, but doing well in the classroom means so much more. Having said this, my average GPA is a 3.81 (weighted)! My junior year I took 5 IB (International Baccalaureate) classes, while my senior year I am currently taking 6 IB classes. I love the game of basketball, but I really pride myself in doing the best I can in the classroom. I try to challenge myself by taking these rigorous courses in order to prove to myself that I am capable of performing well in high pressure situations, and it really does show on and of the court. In the community, I have also decided to take a vice president role in our local San Francisco Unified Leos Club and I often do volunteer work. I feel it's very important to serve.
Being a student-athlete, I can offer top notch grades in order to show that student-athletes are able to perform very well in the classroom while playing a sport. I am an amazing leader both on and off the court due to the trust that my teammates/peers have in me. You can expect EXCELLENCE from me. After seeing and reading about college basketball, I would really love to pursue a college basketball career at a college/university that is both competitive in the classroom and on the basketball court.
