Shakeel Carpenter '12 Recruiting Profile

My name is Shakeel Carpenter and I am currently a senior at Kimball high school in Tracy, California. Although I enjoy watching other sports, such as football and golf, I am an avid basketball enthusiast. Not only do I partake in the game, but I am an aficionado, spending the preponderance of my waking moments, independent of school, pondering ways to improve my game. Evidence of my life long zeal and zest for the game can be found in photographs of me as a two year old, playing the game in my oversized jersey and ill fitting shorts. From an early age, I thirsted for competition and immersed myself in learning the nuances of the sport I adored. As a 17 year old, little has changed to dampen my desire to excel at basketball. While I enjoy the game far more now, the infantile innocence and naivete concerning my potential still abound, as I remain confident that I can change the game when I enter the arena. Profound confidence aside, my statistics this school year evidences an all around player, who impacts the game at both ends. Defensively, I create havoc, while simultaneously playing within a team oriented scheme. Offensively, I endeavor to make, and, indeed do make, key, timely baskets that provide my teammates with the belief that we have an opportunity to compete with any team that dares offer resistance. I am immensely proud and confident of my basketball prowess, and eagerly await a chance to enhance a college teams standing with my improving skills. Thank you.
