Personal Statement

Ever since I was little I have always had a knack for basketball. I love to play it and with my height and my competitive nature, it is the perfect sport for me. However, basketball is not the only sport I've played since I was little. I, also, play baseball. I played on competitive teams for both sports for many years and on many occasions went straight from one sport to the other on the very same day. Playing two competitive sports at the same time wasn't always easy, but it taught me to be a responsible, reliable teammate who could be counted on to always show up and do my best to fulfill the commitment I made to each team.

Although I take athletics seriously, academics are my top priority. I have always tried my hardest to get the best grades possible. I never use my busy sports schedule as an excuse for doing anything less than my best in the classroom. With a weighted GPA of 4.22, I can proudly declare myself a true student-athlete.

On the basketball court I have always had the mindset that being "flashy" doesn't necessarily mean that you are fundamentally sound. I admire how Tim Duncan played the game. He never talked trash to the other team, he rarely argued with referees, and he didn't try to make the flashiest plays. Instead, he stuck to the fundamentals and played the game in a quiet, yet effective, way. In my opinion, he is someone who models good character. I strive to live my life the way I believe Duncan presented himself on the court: trustworthy, honorable, and productive.

NCSA COLLEGE RECRUITING®

NCSA College Recruiting® (NCSA) is the nation’s leading collegiate recruiting source for more than 500,000 student-athletes and 42,000 college coaches. By taking advantage of this extensive network, more than 92 percent of NCSA verified athletes play at the college level. The network is available to high school student-athletes around the country through valued relationships with the NFLPA, FBU, NFCA and SPIRE. Each year, NCSA educates over 4 million athletes and their parents about the recruiting process through resources on its website, presentations of the critically-acclaimed seminar College Recruiting Simplified, and with Athletes Wanted, the book written by NCSA founder Chris Krause.
