Personal Statement
I have had a strong desire to play basketball ever since I started watching my sister play in rec leagues when I was four. I begged my parents to let me play and finally, when I was six, the eight and over rec league let me in. I have played in any league and on every team that I could play on ever since then. Both of my parents have played college basketball. My mom playing division 1 at University of Vermont and my dad playing division 2 at Eckerd College. My sister also walked onto the team at UNF. I include this to assert that I have been around basketball my entire life and this has had a massive contribution to my love for the game and my basketball IQ.
My Goal is to play college basketball not only because I love the game, but because I want to get a degree that will set me up for a successful future. I believe that I could be an asset to any college basketball team because I have a desire to achieve at a higher level, I am a student of the game, I play for the success of my team, I am coachable, and I am a team leader that will work with my coach to help put the team on the path to success. I am very versatile on offense as I am a very strong post scorer but I can also shoot and handle the ball. So far over the course of my high school career I have played all five positions. On defense, I am extremely familiar with man to man principles as that is the defense that I have played on every team that I have been on.
I do not have an off season. I am constantly involved with my high school team as we have an independent team that plays in leagues when it is not the regular season. I also play travel ball with the South East Basketball Academy (SEBA) in Tampa, Florida. Even on off days I try to get better. I try to do something to improve my game every day whether it is doing ball-handling drills in the alley behind my house, driving to the local YMCA gym to get shots up, playing pickup at a local park, or resting and watching film.
