As a military child, leading has always come natural to me; but, it has not always been easy. Interacting and socializing with people from all over the world has truly given me an understanding of what it means to lead with confidence and humility. Being raised in an environment of strong character and values at home has helped me to be true to myself and my faith. This environment is not only within my home; but, it extends to the community that surrounds me (i.e. church, coaches, teachers, and extended family).
Being the only new athlete during my freshman year, I started on the bench only to quickly become the starting point guard due to the impact I made on the team both on and off the court. The team grew from winning only four games the previous season to having a 25 – 8 season and winning the school’s first tournament in 10 years. During my sophomore year, the team spiked to a season of 29 – 4 and winning multiple tournaments to include earning the state championship for the very first time. I was also selected onto 3 all tournament teams and the all-state team.
My commitment and work ethic does not end on the court for I am just as committed to my academics. I am truly seeking to play at the highest level; but at the same time, I want to be challenged intellectually. I believe that I have the character and abilities needed to make an immediate impact on any organization or team.
