Basketball has taught me the importance of discipline, communication, and teamwork. My first basketball experience with school was my seventh grade year when I did not make the team. After that happened I was determined to make the team the following year. I practiced every day on my own to improve my game. The following year I not only made the team but started every game throughout the season. This taught me the hard work and dedication it takes to achieve the goals in life.
My coaches would describe me as an unselfish player that listens well and leaves it all on the court. I pride myself on being a team player and know that our team is most successful when we work together. My teammates would say I'm a supportive teammate that communicates well on the court.
I've played basketball for coaches with many different styles and I believe my personality would allow me to play for most coaches. I admire my high school head coach because he remains calm during tough situations and knows the right things to say to pull the team together. He also has a love for basketball and ensures that we implement the fundamentals of the game.
I look forward to the opportunity to continue learning the game of basketball at the collegiate level while receiving a good education.
