I am an 11th grade combo guard at Charles Drew Charter School. I am a well-rounded student-athlete and have had much success both academically and in athletics. I am the two-time MVP of the JV basketball team and am now the leading scorer on the varsity team. I am also proud to say that I have maintained a 3.85 grade point average and am a member of the Beta Club and the National Honors Society. I am prepared and well positioned for my upcoming college experience.
This season, I am averaging 20 points per game and split time between playing the point guard and the shooting guard. This summer I played for the Georgia Tornados, a 16U AAU team, and averaged 10 points per game. In addition to playing games, I have committed myself to a training schedule that includes 5am skill development workouts, running, and agility training. I have strong ball handling skills and am an effective long and short range shooter that can also drive to the basket.
Right now, it is my plan to pursue a career in engineering. Through my high school course work and through the summer programs I have participated in, I have developed a strong interest in this field. The field of engineering provides me the opportunity to apply the principles of math and science and use my own creativity to solve real world problems or to create things that simplify the lives of everyday people.
