Personal Statement

After high school, my plan is to attend college, play basketball, win championships and obtain a degree specifically in Statistics/Business Analytics. I am a leader and I am self-motivated on and off the court. I am a very driven and dedicated individual and I am ready and willing to work hard in academics and athletics for my dreams to come true. I am a combo guard, playing the point guard and shooting guard positions. I am a strong and poised ball handler with great court vision. I am a high percentage and efficient shooter from the perimeter and a sound defender. My efficient and high percentage shooting allows the floor to be spread in any offensive set. I look forward to joining a team where I can contribute early and become a great player. Playing with individuals that are skilled and recognize that all players on the team have a role and bring something to the team is the type of program I would like to be a part of.

Donnell Nixon, SBC, 2019: A 34-point explosion during the second day of action had Nixon’s name on the tip of a few NAIA, D2, and Division 1 coaches tongues. Always one to make the on time/target pass, the SBC guard took matters into his own hands with some high scoring outputs at BOTS. Donell Nixon II selected to the 17U All-Tournament team. Donell has great court vision. Always looking for his open teammates. One of the better passers in his class. Donnell Nixon and Grant Van Beveren of SBC’s 17U team was the circuit’s version of Stockton and Malone. Nixon is the consummate point guard, who can shine as a pick and roll point guard or someone who can take the game over with scoring. Donell Nixon, II, SBC, 2019, PG (pictured above): Nixon was one of, if not the best, passer in the field. He took over the game in the 17U Black championship game in the second half with his scoring touch. Nixon is an understated guard that picks his spots to beat you. He’s the epitome of a “winning plays” kind of guy and has been such since he’s played at our events over the years. Buford point guard Donell Nixon did the best he could to keep the Warriors in the game, finishing with a game-high 35 points, sinking seven three-pointers in the process. Gerald Tillman of South Gwinnett scored 14 points and Christian Matthews of Langston Hughes chipped in 11 points.

Led by 2019 5-foot-9 point guard Donell Nixon (Buford), SBC Select finished their weekend at the HoopSeen Tip-Off 3-0. Nixon scorched nets all tournament, drilling three after three. He nailed five in a win over the Greater NE GA Warriors, where he finished with 19 points, 4 rebounds, 6 assists and 5 steals. His passing may have gotten a little overshadowed playing with Lipscomb-signee Alex Jones the past two seasons, but make no mistake, the dynamic dynamo can dish it out. (https://sandysspiel.com)

Donell Nixon II put on a show for the Southern Stampede 16U in a 68-67 win over Sonics Elite. The Stampede were up by as much as 20 in the game but Sonics Elite came back late in the second half to make it a game. Nixon II had 6 3’s in the win and knocked down 2 free throws with 7 seconds left to seal the win. The Buford HS product had a really nice game to carry his team to victory.

Nixon packs a lot of positive qualities into his small frame. One of the best qualities in his game at Elite Preview was his perimeter shooting. When he got open chances he knocked them down. Combine that with his ball handling skills and his chip on his shoulder type of toughness that he plays with and you could have a solid guard in the making as he matures physically. - Carter Wilson

Nixon is a quick, slashing point guard. He is able to weave through traffic to create space or set up shots for his teammates. He seems to have matured and grown since our last evaluation. His quickness translates well to the defensive end where he can hound ball handlers.

Nixon is another talented guard that will be in the pipeline of talent at Mountain View for coach BJ Roy. Just a freshman, Nixon might be a bit undersized currently. However, as it occurs with many prospects, he is sure to grow and physically mature in upcoming years. From a skill perspective, he showed his ability to put the ball on the floor and get down hill to penetrate and kick. He proved that he could hold his own versus older, more mature players. Playing with the Georgia Red Storm has clearly paid dividends in his experience as a young ball player. Hard work and development is definitely on the horizon. However, he showed that he has a good base of skill to work from in years to come.
