Basketball is, and always been, a huge part of my life. I have had a basketball in my hands since I was five years old. My passion and work ethic on the court is unmatched. I truly believe I outwork and out-hustle my peers. More importantly, my work ethic and focus off the court is equally unmatched. I know how important education is in my development as a scholar-athlete. I have always put my studies first and basketball second, and that will continue in college. While basketball has always been a part of my life, I know it is not what defines me as a person. What defines me as a person are my family, morals and integrity.
I want to pursue a college education, possible looking at a business degree. In the long term, pursuing an M.B.A. is my goal. I want to be challenged in the classroom and on the court. I want to experience the entire college life, and succeed in everything a university has to offer. Ultimately, I want to graduate at the top of my class.
The one word that would classify me as a teammate is unselfish. I love getting others involved in the court. Seeing others succeed as a result of teamwork is very rewarding. I feel I have a high basketball IQ and understand not only my position on the floor, but the positions and responsibilities of all my teammates. As stated earlier, I will outwork anyone else on the team. I am leader by example and actions. I am a coach's player. I listen, but more importantly, I execute. I am not concerned with personal stats or glory. If my team is winning and performing as a team....that is success.
I do not know how much different I am then the other tens of thousand student-athletes. I am sure we all love the game of basketball. All I know is what I can do and the passion, work ethic and attention to detail I can bring to a program, both on and off the court. Playing college basketball is a privlege, not a right. I am not sure every athlete understands that. I do. To play the sport I have loved since I was five at the next level, is almost un-thinkable. If provided the opportunity to play at the next level, I promise to represent the school, my family and myself with pride and honor.
