I have played basketball for as long as I can remember. In fact, my mother calls "Basketball" my first love. When I was younger, I would go to bed at night with my basketball, tossing it in the air until I fell asleep. This sport has taught me so much. It has taught me to persevere and to never give up on my dreams. I have become more disciplined and focused which has given me an advantage both on the court and off. I am dedicated to always giving my best. That may include working on my shot at 5:00 am before school or spending extra hours in the gym after studying for exams. Whatever it takes, I want to help my team succeed and be the very best that we can possibly be.
I have served as captain for the varsity team since my sophomore year. This leadership role has given me the opportunity to set an example for my teammates. I know that others look to me for guidance on the court and in the classroom, as well. I take this position very seriously. I love this game even if it means my name will not be highlighted in the local newspaper. I will give my all for the glory of the team. Most times, the strong defender and best leader go unnoticed for the sake of the team. I am a team player whose main goal is to win. I will bring this "will to win" to the team.
My dream is to play college basketball. Overall, I want to grow to be a better person who will make a difference in my community. The skills it takes to play this game are the same skills that will help me reach my goals in college and after, as well.
