Personal Statement

My goal is prove to myself and everyone who doubted me that I have what it takes to play at the next level.  I am confident that all of the hard work I have dedicated to the sport that I love will get me to play at the next level.  I have been inspired by athletes such as Stephen Curry of the Golden State Warriors and Russell Wilson who by their physical stature alone should not have been able to compete.  They continue to impress and prove everyone wrong.

I am an excellent candidate for your team because of my commitment to my sport.  Over the past 3 years of playing football for Punahou School, I did not miss a day of developing my basketball skills.  Rain or shine, I was out on the basketball court working to become better.  I knew that if I took a day-off, there was someone somewhere working harder than me to get better.  Instead of being critical of my teammates, I try to inspire and lead by example..

As a dual sport athlete at a very competitive private school, my schedule in and out of the classroom has been very demanding.  I have never used this an excuse to choose one over the other.  I remain committed inside the classroom first and working hard outside of the classroom.  I also make the time to give back to my community through my active involvement in various community service projects as a "Luke Leader" at Punahou School.  (Luke Leaders are students at Punahou School committed to the service of others).
