Having a goal is one thing, but reaching out for that goal that would never seem possible; that's exactly what I am doing. My Freshman year of High School was my first year of organized basketball; I was definitely the worst player on the team. I could barely dribble the ball, and my shooting was unbelievably the worst thing you'd ever see. Whenever I jumped to try to touch the rim, with just four steps I was about 3 inches away from my finger tips touching. I was tired of being that person that sits on the bench, and being the person that never plays because he's not good enough. I started coming in before school and staying after school learning post moves, building a form for shooting, and understanding the game of basketball. Towards end of the season I was a starter and one of the team captains. Sophomore year was a little different because I was expecting a lot more due to the work I put in to it over the summer. I was thinking that's all I needed to do; I would just be on varsity just like that. I soon realized I needed more experience; by the end of my second season I have vastly improved in my ball handling, shooting, and my game awareness, and with just four steps I dunked a basketball twice. I felt after the season ended I did not get anything that I was striving for. The next Monday after the season ended I started lifting weights, and taking whey protein after workouts. During both of the seasons I was 155 lbs, and one month after the second season i am now 170 lbs. I want to be the biggest, and strongest threat on the floor. All the improvements in such a short time, I realized that hunger to be the best of my abilities will never go away.
