Ben Klein '22 Recruiting Profile

I believe that I possess the ability to lift up the people around me, both in a gym or in general life. This skill brings others closer and pushes them on to achieve a goal together that is higher than any one person could achieve alone. When one combines preparation with unselfishness and places trust in others, they are doing the right things to win in all areas of life.  

In the 2019-2020 season my high school coaches asked me to take on a new role for the Sophomore team, point guard.  I had never played this position at any level prior to this season.  It forced me to improve my ball handling, decision-making and offensive mental endurance while being asked to defend the opposing team's top perimeter threat. My typical role has been small forward or the 2 guard spot.  I played small forward to point guard when brought up to a Varsity role mid-season.  Our Sophomore team finished 22-4 and Varsity team 15-5 after being brought into the rotation, winning a Regional.  I understand different teams need different roles out of me, and I do my best to fulfill that role so my team wins.  

In our COVID shortened 13 game 2021 season, we finished 9-4 with losses of 2,4,5, & 8 to three senior-heavy state ranked teams.  I moved back to a 2 guard/small forward spot and often guarded the other team's best player.  We learned to distribute the ball better amongst each other, making the next pass for a better shot and understanding that sometimes reduces personal statistics for the benefit of the team.  We finished the season on a 5 game win streak and look forward to 2021-2022.  My team is first - I am second.
