My name is Maverick Wright from Robinson, Illinois. First I just wanted to let you know a little about me. I’m a 19 year old, 6’4”, man planning to go to a community college next year. I’ll have you know I attended Lincoln Trail College last year during the fall semester but wasn’t the most focused so dropped out of my classes Mid way through the semester. I know that isn’t very reassuring to hear but I’ve always thought honesty is the best policy. I’m also going to be teen rolling there this coming spring semester to get some good grades that can transfer over. Although I only played two of my years throughout high school I never really put down basketball. I’ve always been finding ways to play whether it be getting ahold of my old coaches and figuring out when their open gyms are, or even just going to the closest ymca. Over the past two years I’ve really just been figuring out ways to better my game. This last summer I worked out a lot with one of my friends (Joey Wright) who just starting his college career at Oakland City. One big question that you may have is why I didn’t play all four years throughout high school. The answer to that is partly because I wasn’t quiet happy with my position on the team. I went from being 5’3” my freshman year to being 6’3” my junior year. This means all the way up to my junior year I was working on my guard skills. Which changed all of a sudden my junior year when my coach decided with me being the tallest on the team that I needed to be a big man at the 5 spot. Although I didn’t completely buy in I also found it hard to pick up the skills needed to thrive at that position. I feel I am more of a threat off of the dribble with my speed because I can open up opportunities for either my teammates with their man having to help or for myself when they don’t. I ran cross country and track throughout high school so my stamina is very good. At this spot I couldn’t really use that speed when I was always on the block. Which led me to the decision of not playing my senior year. My email is [email protected] and number is (618)553-3694.
