Personal Statement
"You are not everything you could be, and you know it." JP
Hello, and thank you for your time! My name is Max Morse, and I'm currently a college freshman at Southeastern University in Lakeland Florida, and looking to play basketball. I graduated high school in 2021 and completed my freshman year of college and will be returning to Illinois to work and live with my parents. My senior year of basketball included all the Covid-19 restrictions, and basketball season was delayed until late February, However, I used this to my advantage to train with a personal basketball coach.
Overall I am a seasoned athlete. I became interested in basketball, primarily because my dad played all four years in high school and still enjoys playing. At 11 years old, the Upward Sports program gave me my first opportunity to play team basketball. The intensity and pressure of the game are fulfilling.
As a person and a teammate, Once I know my role within the team, I play it well, have strong leadership qualities, and realize that a true leader builds bonds in confidence within themselves and their teammates. Mental toughness is a priority to work at the highest level to succeed; I am a team player handling success and failure with integrity. I strive for personal growth to accomplish the goal, pushing myself to learn and work at my highest level.
Having to overcome some obstacles because of my height, I grew 3 inches last summer. This season I am regaining my coordination. I'm 6'4" and 190 lbs; overall, I'm athletic, coachable, a team player, hustler, and a hard-working individual. My academic goals are to attend a university pursuing a business/entrepreneur major to familiarize myself with the business world to succeed off the court.
For the last seven years, outside of basketball, I've competed as a member of an amateur water ski show team from May to September. Also, I enjoy scale remote control (RC) crawlers, airplanes, and warships, as well as mountain bike riding, camping, and target shooting. Volunteer Opportunities include the amateur water ski shows free of charge for the community, Adapt-A-Ski Day for special needs adults and children, Learn-2-Ski day for the community, Food Drives, Backpack drive, and Christmas gifts for local elementary schools with my church, youth group Leader Labs planning for services and events.
Thank you for your time, and I look forward to hearing from you.
