Personal Statement
Basketball has been a part of life as long as I can remember. My dad and grandfather instilled in me the love of the game and my competitive spirit. I started playing in kindergarten, and have had some tough defeats and some thrilling wins. I have learned many things from both winning and losing, and those lessons continue to help me mature as a player. One of the things I've learned is how important each member of the team is. Because of that, I was awarded with the Most Assists in a season and was named Team Captain the last two seasons.
Last year I was in an ATV accident which left me with a broken pelvis and ankle. I was unable to participate in sports for 12 weeks. It was then that I really discovered how much basketball and being part of a team meant to me. I had to push myself to new limits to regain muscle strength and get back into cardio shape for the season. Because of that experience, I do not take my abilities and opportunities for granted.
As an incoming freshman, I have set a goal for myself to graduate with a 4.0 GPA while excelling at basketball. Academics are very important to me and my parents. I hope to pursue a degree in college in biology or pre-medicine. The college that I attend must have a strong academic program in order for me to reach my career goals.
I am excited for the next several years of my life and look forward to seeing what I can accomplish.
