Taylen Absher '24 Recruiting Profile

My name is Taylen Absher, and I am a 6'2" shooting guard/point guard from Hope, Indiana. I graduated from South Decatur Jr/Sr High School and am currently a redshirt freshman at Saint Mary’s of the Woods College, where I’ve completed my first season of collegiate basketball. With four years of eligibility remaining, I have now entered the transfer portal. I am eager to continue to grow as a player and contribute to a team that shares my dedication to excellence both on and off the court.

Basketball has been a passion of mine for as long as I can remember. I’ve always been driven by the challenge of pushing myself to improve, and I’ve worked tirelessly to develop my skills, leadership, and basketball IQ. Throughout high school, I was fortunate to have coaches and teammates who supported me in my journey, but it was my discipline and commitment to hard work that allowed me to excel. That drive is what led me to play at the collegiate level, and I am now focused on further developing my game at the next stage of my basketball career.

As a point guard and shooting guard, I have honed my ability to read the game, make quick decisions, and lead by example. I believe in the importance of teamwork and communication, and I take pride in my ability to support my teammates both on and off the floor. The transition to collegiate basketball has been an eye-opening experience, and I’ve embraced the opportunity to grow mentally and physically, particularly through my redshirt year. This time has given me the chance to focus on my conditioning, develop my skills further, and gain a deeper understanding of the game.

I’m seeking to continue my basketball journey with a program that values hard work, commitment, and growth. I want to join a team where I can contribute my skills and leadership while also learning from the coaches and teammates around me. I believe that with my remaining eligibility, I have the potential to make a significant impact and contribute to a team’s success while continuing to grow as a player and person.
