2024 Spotlight
Spring 2024 AAU s...As a high school senior with a passion for track and field and a drive for academic excellence, I am eager to continue my journey as a student-athlete at the collegiate level. Balancing the demands of my rigorous AP and honors coursework with my commitment to high jump and the 200m has shaped me into a disciplined and resilient competitor. Every rep, every lift, and every practice has taught me to embrace the process and pursue constant growth. I know that with the right coaching and program, I can take my performance to the next level and become a valuable contributor to a collegiate track team.
My academic journey has been uniquely shaped by being diagnosed with dyslexia in first grade. While dyslexia presented challenges, it fueled my determination to overcome obstacles and achieve my goals. Through years of tutoring and relentless effort, I developed strategies that allow me to excel academically. That same perseverance is mirrored in my approach to athletics—whether I am working to clear the bar in high jump, sprinting down the curve in the 200m, or studying late into the night, I give 100% and learn from every challenge to improve along the way.
In track and field, the high jump has become my true passion. It requires equal parts mental focus, technical precision, and explosive athleticism. Thus far I have not had a high jump coach so I am trying my best to learn and understand the technique as much as possible. This past year, I raised my personal record to 6’2” and have my sights set on 6’4” and beyond. I am also developing as a sprinter in the 200m, where I’ve shown strong potential and continue to lower my times through dedicated training. I take pride in being a multi-event athlete, balancing both speed and vertical power to help my team succeed.
Beyond athletics, I have invested heavily in personal growth and leadership. As captain of my track team, I not only push myself but also support my teammates in reaching their goals. I have also trained younger athletes in my community, sharing what I’ve learned about performance, discipline, and injury prevention. These experiences have strengthened my leadership skills and deepened my commitment to serving others.
After learning a little about me, a few things I hope you remember are: I will always give maximum effort in every pursuit; I am eager to learn and grow under the guidance of great coaches; and I find fulfillment in helping my teammates and community improve alongside me. I am ready to bring this work ethic, determination, and passion to the next level as part of your program.
