As a high school Junior with a passion for basketball, track & field, and a drive for academic excellence, I am eager to continue my journey as a student athlete at the collegiate level. Balancing the demands of my rigorous AP and honors course work with my commitment to basketball and track, specifically high jump has helped shape me into one of the most disciplined, resilient individuals you will ever meet. All it will take is for one coach to watch me play and see the heart, hustle and desire I embody and I will be able to contribute to and grow within their college basketball program.
My academic journey has been uniquely shaped by being diagnosed with dyslexia in first grade. While having dyslexia presented so many challenges, it fueled my determination to overcome obstacles and achieve my goals. Through private tutoring using the Barton method and relentless effort, I have developed effective strategies to excel academically. This perseverance is mirrored in my approach to the individual sport of high jump and basketball. Whether I am on the high jump mat, the court, or in the classroom I will always give 100% and learn from my mistakes to improve along the way.
One of my favorite core memories was watching March Madness specifically, the 2019 final four game between Texas Tech and Virginia. Growing up I was not a naturally gifted player I just knew that every time I picked up that orange ball I had the time of my life. Then in 7th grade I met my coach Kyle Adams and he pushed me in ways I did not know possible. He helped elevate my court vision and basketball IQ. I went from scoring off of put backs to being able to create my own opportunities to score. After that I fell in love with the process of training and having a growth mindset.
In addition to my academic and athletic pursuits. I am deeply committed to personal growth as well. I have attended three of the Point Guard College (PGC) camps in 2021, 2022 and this past summer which largely focuses on personal growth and leadership in addition to the game of basketball. Journaling is one PGC take away I still utilize to continually self reflect and improve in all facets of life. After learning a little about me a few things I would like you to remember are; I will always give 100% in all my pursuits, I will be eager to learn from coaches in order to improve my style of play, and I will also find happiness and satisfaction helping my teammates grow in the sport as well.
