As I constantly reflect on my life goals, I reflect back on my experience in the basketball world, I am reminded of the route that brought me to this point, the application to play college basketball. For me, basketball is more than just a game; it's a language that expresses my greatest desires and feelings. I'm Miguel Arango, and I'm more than simply a player. I'm a living example of tenacity, commitment, and a person who is definitely not defined by its context. I am from Colombia, a colorful and passionate nation where I have always accepted obstacles with an unwavering determination and hard working mentality.
As an international basketball player, I have faced many challenges, but they have just made me more determined to succeed. I have accepted difficulty as a fuel for growth, from managing cultural differences to getting past difficulties. By pure determination and trust in my own talents.
Also I'd like to tell the coaches that are exploring my profile a little about myself. I am currently 17 years old and study in a highly competitive high school in terms of academics, as it's one of the top british IB schools in latino america The Anglo Colombiano school in Bogota. Not only have I great academics, but constantly compete in the US, last summer I participated 2 weeks on the IMG academy summer camp at bradenton, and excelled as one of the top players on the camp, being nominated to a all-star game selection and multiple player of the day, also the upcoming summer will also participate on a camp in the US. Also a very important part to mention, if not the most important part, is that I'm looking for scholarships. My family has discussed many times my choice of trying to study in a good college in the US and we've discussed the economic part. As a conclusion of our discussions and many hours of mathematical calculation we have come to conclude that we can't fund my education in the US, and the only way I can study and play quality basketball outside of Colombia is with a good scholarship.
My recruiting coach and I, Coach Nick Radenkovich, invite you coaches reading this statement to not only look into my profile, but seriously consider myself for a scholarship and a chance for a kid from Colombia to make it. I'm a smart, dedicated, strong mentally, hard working kid that can impact both ends of the court. With my height of 6 '4 I am a skilled facilitator that has a high percentage on the three ball and can protect the ball, also my quick reflexes and great defensive attributes contribute to my defensive presence on the court. Thank you for considering my application and for recognizing the potential that lies within me. I invite you to approach me with any questions, to look at my video, at my academics and others.
