Justin Josef (JJ) Hoang '27 Recruiting Profile

My name is Justin Josef Hoang. You can call me JJ. I have been playing basketball since I was 9 years old. Before joining the South Windsor Warriors U10 Elite basketball team, I participated in numerous basketball camps, skills training, basketball development programs, etc. to help me build my understanding, technique, skills, and fundamentals of the game. My passion for basketball started at a very young age and continues today. Below I have listed all of my basketball experiences, which I'm continuing to build into my potential future into collegiate basketball.

My goal is to get into collegiate basketball in any capacity. I am a highly motivated high school student with a positive attitude and drive to succeed. I am one of the top high school athletes, a highly skilled basketball player with a strong sense of discipline, a strong work ethic, and performing in high-stress situations. I find great pride in knowing that my strongest skill is on defense. In my personal opinion in basketball, strong defense is the backbone of championship teams. It's about relentless pressure, agile footwork, and seamless teamwork. I excel at anticipating opponents' moves, disrupting passing lanes, and contesting every shot. I believe that through coordinated efforts, led by skilled defenders and guided by strategic coaching, stifle offenses and create game-changing turnovers. Strong defense isn't just about individual talent, it's a collective commitment to intensity, effort, and disciplined execution. In my experience, it's the foundation upon which winning teams are built. I am hard-working, passionate, determined, disciplined, resilient, and a true team player. I will do anything in my power to continue to play basketball on a competitive level. I'm an eager learner, taking in everything that is taught to me by my coaches. I've been told that I'm a coaches dream player because I soak all the information given to me like a sponge. I'm not afraid to take chances and follow instructions when told. I get along well with my teammates and always build relationships through the sport.

I am of Southeast Asian descent (Vietnamese). Not many players look like me on the court, and I would be honoured to represent my culture and help promote awareness of basketball within my culture as well. There is a need to increase diversity within this sport because there are so many talented people out there with a passion for basketball.
