Owen Davies '23 Recruiting Profile

I love the feeling of excitement stepping onto the court to start a game.   My teammates are like a family – as a power forward, I see a lot of what happens on the court so it is my role to communicate to my teammates, constantly telling them what’s going on.  I high five my teammates, encouraging them after every play.  I try to inspire my team with my aggressive play on offense and defense.   I usually play close to the paint, but can also score from the perimeter.  I can shoot from anywhere on the floor and love to drive through contact.  To improve my athleticism, I do a combination of Olympic lifting and strength/agility drills five days a week.  I am already tall, and my goal is to be much stronger and be a dominating physical presence on the court. Playing in the US has always been a goal for me, to play with the best in the world, to grow and learn and help those around me.

I have a strong drive to improve not only on the court but in school.  After years of being home schooled and now attending high school, I learned to have a different mindset than most kids my age.  I am self-motivated and disciplined in both sports and academics.  I was part of a robotics team for two years and participated in designing and building, and most importantly teamwork.  This experience taught me not only what I want to study in school, mechanical engineering, but working with others, you can accomplish anything.
