My UNDERRATED Story
What makes Shumayal Rahman Underrated? The reason why I am Underrated is that I continuously try to set short term & long term goals. Trying to create multiple efficient plans to achieve my goal every step of the way. At the current time some of my goals are to play at a high level prep/academy program and showcase myself to recruiters/scouts/coaches in order to receive more exposure.
Secondly, I have options of either attending college or going a different route, getting in contact with college coaches at the NCAA Division I Men's Basketball level. In order to attain a Division I Basketball Scholarship to a program that will let me showcase my talents and abilities to the next level. And I continue to reassess myself to know what my "why" is, and how I could reach the highest level of basketball - playing in the NBA. I studied, watched, repeated, worked, and put all my effort and more with the help of my support system and ongoing constructive criticism on what the current goals are and the end goals. I don't just want to make the NBA, I want to have a long lasting career and show all the time my family and I have put into this game to the rest of the world. Where I feel that my path to the NBA will be different to others, taking advice from coaches - every level I'm at I must prove what I have to the next level. Taking advantage of my opportunities and continuing to show the coaches/front offices and the people at the top, that besides my overall game, my mental capabilities/mindset will take myself and my teammates to our goals.
Finally, I want to give inspiration to the youth and the kids coming up, for them to set goals for themselves and put the time in with no shortcuts to achieve those goals. Furthermore, basketball is what I do, and what I love to do. But learning from former/current players the ball will someday stop bouncing. So we must find a career after we give everything to this game. Taking inspiration from people like Kobe Bryant, Shaquille O'Neal, Steve Nash, how they lived their lives and helped so many other people in their life. I aspire to be the first Pro Basketball player to eventually become a medical doctor. And also having the back up plan of medicine since nothing is guaranteed.
Therefore, I am always trying to get better in every aspect of my life and not take a single minute off to learn more of this game, get better at my weaknesses, showcase my strengths and with the help of my support system go out to achieve my goals.
