Personal Statement

Hi, Hugh here from Australia,

I'm passionate to follow my dream to be a US College student athlete I am working hard at my craft of basketball and I’m passionate about my desire to achieve the highest level of basketball I can here in Melbourne, Australia and then be ready for College.

I value a quality education and are open to all offers for any level and will work hard both on the court and in the classroom.

Good education is an important part of my goals along with basketball to get to the highest level I can.

I'm now 6’9” tall and putting on the lbs / kgs over 2020 and feel my body is strengthening. With season 2020 on hold and will resume after Covid-19 in July 2020.

I’m keen to talk further along with my parents about the next steps to achieve an opportunity for July 2020.

Feb'20 we made Victorian Championship under under 21's for Winter 2020 this highest level in Victoria and Australia. Then Covid kick in. In the isolation I been put hours of strengthening works with free weights etc. Looking to put on 10 kg of body mass over March to July 2020.

Past experience in the United States via AusaHoops;

July 2018 I complete a AAU tournament in USA, Dallas Texas that included Great American Shootout with AUSA Hoops AAU tour. We had completed a 5 day training camp at Fort Worth  Athletic Performance Ranch and played in the middle NCAA live certified AAU tournaments in Dallas TX.

First Live Period - Wednesday & Thursday is the Lone Star Top 100 Invite Only Camp

First Live Period - Friday-Sunday is the Lone Star Classic  - Finished third, lost to the top place side by two points that would have placed us in the finals.

Second Live Period - Great American Shootout

  • Basketball Victoria ‘Champions Cup’ , St James College Intermediate Basketball squad. https://inewsletter.co/1q6E6x/st-james-college-issue-eight/#/17 Intermediate Basketball - Champions Cup    The SJC Intermediate Basketball squad were lucky enough to receive a nomination to compete for the Basketball Victoria ‘Champions Cup’.   Only the best basketball schools in Victoria are nominated to compete for this prestigious prize. This was the first ever nomination for St James College.   Our first game vs St Monica's College had an early start - 8.30 am in a freezing cold Dandenong stadium. The young men played hard from the start, taking the lead and holding it for the entire game. It was a victorious effort for our young men winning 32-24.   Up next, our competition was Box Hill Sports Secondary High School. Two previous NBA top 5 draft picks are past students of this school, so it was always going to be a tough ask.   In a gallant loss, the final score was 47-21.   Lastly SJC faced Rowville Secondary College, another sport specific high school. Unfortunately we were outmatched after a long and tiring day, losing 64-23.   I am extremely proud of our team for their efforts on this day and across the entire SIS season.   We have some great talent and positive sportsmanship that should make all members of our community proud.   Congratulations on a successful and outstanding season to: Hugh, 10 La Salle Luke, 9 Solomon Daniel, 9 Miguel Daniel, 9 Solomon Ben, 9 La Salle Dylan, 10 Miguel Cameron, 9 La Salle Campbell, 9 Solomon Kosta, 9 Miguel Stan, 9 La Salle   Dan McMahon College Coordinator
