Jared Starkey '13 Recruiting Profile

I am a 6'10" center from Hutchinson, KS and I will graduate in 2013.  I played both my freshman and sophomore seasons on the varsity team and I averaged 6.1 blocks per game.  I missed my junior season due to a broken leg which occured the first weekend of practice.  My leg healed fully in time to play AAU basketball with the Oklahoma Wizards this past summer.  This was my first experience with more competitive basketball, coming from a small division 1 school  in Kansas.   The experience was definitely more challenging than high school basketball for me, but I believe I made tremendous progress throughout the summer schedule.  I have now started all 15 games of my senior season.  I average 18.4 PPG, 10.3 RPG, and 4 BPG. We are 12-3 and first in our league.  Our goal for this season is to reach the state tournament for the first time in school history.

Physically, I am still growing and developing as an athlete and a basketball player.  I am committed to working hard to contribute to my team, and am looking forward to that challenge.  My faith in Jesus Christ is very important to me, and giving my best effort helps to represent that to others.
I would like to play basketball at the highest competitive level possible in college and  plan to study pre-medical classes.  I would like to attend college where I can receive a top quality undergraduate education, and play basketball.   I have done best in the math and science classes in school.   Although I am most familiar with midwestern universities, I am open to going somewhere farther away to find the right fit for me.
