My name is Adrian Moody (my friends call me AJ). I live in Windham Maine (home of the 2024 AA boys basketball state champions). AA is the largest school division in Maine.
I am junior this year and a two-sport athlete playing football and basketball. This past summer my football team attended the University of Maine Orono team camp and I was one out of five players added to their recruiting class (3 of the 5 were seniors). This was exciting and flattering but my love is hoops, and that is what I plan to play at the collegiate level.
As for hoops this past spring I was listed as top 12 sophomores in New England by NERR. I have been starting for my high school since my first game of my freshman year. My sophomore season ended in a dream senario when I was tackled with 8 seconds left in OT and made two clutch free throws to seal the game (there’s more to that story that shot me into the spotlight for my sportsmanship and I’d be happy to share the last 8 second of the overtime if you are interested).
We play position-less basketball at my school but I would be classified as a bouncy 6’2 shooting guard and a defensive stopper. I was named to the all-rookie team for Maine high school hoops my freshman year (one of only 2 freshmen honored that year as the team is made of freshman and sophomores). As a sophomore this past season I averaged 2.9 steals per game and just missed beating out a senior at Portland High School for most steals per game. The “bouncy” comes in after I steal the ball, because if I like to end the fast break with a dunk. The offense we run is unique and our top 5 players averaged just under 12 points per game during our championship run.
I am super proud that I ended my sophomore year on honor roll and have decided to challenge myself my junior year with 3 Honor classes. I hope the added weight of the "Honor" classes will shine bright when being considered for college applications. I also pride my self as being a leader both on and off the court.
Respectfully,
Adrian Moody
